On January 23rd, the day after the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., the Tradition, Family and Property Washington Bureau held its “traditional pro-life reception” with remarks by John Horvat II on the topic of “Embrace the Cross: Become a Highly Effective Pro-Life Leader.”

Each year, the TFP hosts international delegations of pro-lifers who come to join the hundreds of thousands participating in the March for Life. This year saw representatives from the Netherlands, Italy, France, Belgium, Argentina, the Philippines and Brazil. While their backgrounds are diverse, they are all united in opposing the wanton killing of unborn children. They all felt the need to stand up and be heard.
Held at the TFP bureau’s McLean office, the event was particularly blessed with the presence of exiled King Kigeli of Rwanda, along with many TFP friends from the Washington area and beyond.
The evening’s remarks were delivered by John Horvat II, the American TFP’s vice-president. He based his talk on a chapter from his award-winning book, Return to Order: From a Frenzied Economy to an Organic Christian Society—Where We’ve Been, How We Got Here and Where We Need to Go. He highlighted the idea of what he called a “Way of the Cross” society as a means to defeat the culture of death that makes abortion possible.
“I believe the only way we are going to return to some kind of order is if we have a ‘Way of the Cross’ society,” Mr. Horvat said. “We need to change the culture and move toward one which has as its model the way of the cross. There can be no truly pro-life society without the cross.”
As always, the event proved to strengthen the resolve of all those who had participated in the March for Life. The conversation afterward went long into the night.
