At first glance, it is apparent that our culture is obsessed with technology. Countless customers wait outside of stores for days, for the latest version of the iPhone or whatever new product is out. People put aside all responsibilities and concerns, focusing their attention completely around a material product. This phenomenon is not restricted nationally but unfortunately is to be found worldwide.

The NoPhone is essentially a brick with the same weight, size, feel, and look as an iPhone. One carries it around like an iPhone but it is completely fake. On the positive side, one never needs to worry about upgrades, water damage, or a dying battery. Its creators comment: “The NoPhone is a technology-free alternative…that allows you to stay connected with the real world.”

Although this product may seem comical, it is a reaction to the real problem of society’s frenetic attachment to technology.

While a useless brick will not stop this frenzy, a true return to order will. It is time to cast Subscription11aside the passing and ephemeral distractions of this world, and open our eyes to a higher reality, an orderly and virtuous society which places God, not technology, in the center.
