At the annual meeting of the Philadelphia Society, John Horvat II, author of Return to Order, was received as a member of the conservative intellectual group. Held in Chicago on April 4-6, this year’s event marked the fiftieth anniversary of the society’s founding. The theme of the meeting was “The Road Ahead: Serfdom or Liberty?”
After being recommended by two members, Mr. Horvat was one of some thirty candidates accepted as members of the society. “It was a great honor for me,” the author said. “I read the works of Philadelphia Society members like Russell Kirk and others in preparing Return to Order. It was very special to be amidst such scholars and to be part of a great American tradition.”
