On April 3, Return to Order author John Horvat II visited Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, to address the final ethics and moral seminar for graduating business and accounting majors.
Mr. Horvat delivered a presentation about the three ways of practicing the faith while doing business. The first was a passion for justice, while the second was the practice of charity. Finally, the speaker highlighted the need for those in business to carry the daily and big crosses that come when engaged in commerce. This is especially hard in a world that avoids suffering at all costs.
“A Catholic economy is governed by justice, tempered by charity and purified by the Cross. With this, everything becomes possible,” Mr. Horvat concluded.
The one-hour seminar drew from ideas found in the book, Return to Order: From a Frenzied Economy to an Organic Christian Society—Where We’ve Been, How We Go Here, and Where We Need to Go.
This is the third time the TFP author has addressed graduating seniors. The book, Return to Order, has also been used as a textbook for a business class at the school.
Mr. Horvat has spoken on several campuses and found students receptive to a return to order.
