Award-winning author John Horvat II shared his talk, “Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother: The Key to Bringing America Back to Order,” on Sept. 28. The event was held at St. Mary’s Center located in downtown Scranton, Penn. Mr. Horvat is the author of the book, Return to Order, as well as vice president of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP). A book signing took place after the speech.
The talk dealt with the need to fire up American families with the notion of honoring parents and transforming the present day culture. The speaker explained the correlation between family, faith, the economy, and moral values. He showed how a secular, materialistic culture is leading the nation to ruin. He said that one way to return to order in America is to return to a notion of what it means to honor thy father and thy mother.

The program began with a short presentation of the brass and bagpipe band of the 
TFP-staffed St. Louis de Montfort boy’s school, which played patriotic hymns. It was a fitting beginning for the occasion which highlighted the honor of the nation.
Scores of local residents attended the lively program which finished with questions and answers, refreshments and a book signing session. Local residents and activists put together an excellent afternoon. Especially helpful in making the event such a success was support from the local JMJ Catholic radio.
